This is a three lesson unit. Pupils will learn about school procedures and saving work in folders. They will create a name label using a DTP package and undertake tasks to give a baseline assessment to inform teaching further on in the year.

7B - Internet Use

This is a four lesson unit. Pupils will learn to use the
internet to find information efficiently and be able to assess the information
in terms of accuracy and bias through class and paired discussions and
individual and paired activities. They then use the information to create a
flyer for a particular audience.

7C - Leaflet Creation

This is a six lesson unit . Pupils produce a leaflet to
advertise their house to potential buyers (adult audience). They will then alter
the work to produce an advertisement for the local paper

7D - Modelling

This is five lesson unit that introduces modelling concepts
to pupils through the context of a childrens party. Pupils add simple formula
and functions to a simple spreadsheet, produce graphs, answer what if
questions and then create a poster to advertise the party incorporating graphs
from Excel.

7E - Control

This is a sequence of four lessons that introduce the
concepts of sensors and computer control. The pupils are engaged in a mystery
activity for learning about sensors before moving on to look at flowcharting and
using Flowol

7F - Data Handling

This five lesson unit introduces pupils to handling data. The
pupils create a simple questionnaire to test hypotheses around computer at home.
The pupils then use an existing database to filter the records to prove or
disprove the hypotheses before creating a report for the head of ICT with graphs
produced in Excel

7G - Presentation

This five lesson unit develops pupils understanding of
audience and purpose by asking them to create a PowerPoint presentation for year
6 pupils to introduce them to the school.
