World Thinking Day
Monday, 22 February (11:55 PM)

World Thinking Day is celebrated on 22 February each year by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world. Each year there is a different focus:

•World Thinking Day theme 2010 - Poverty and Hunger
•World Thinking Day theme 2011 - Empowerment
•World Thinking Day theme 2012 - Environment
Why was 22 February chosen?

The 22 February was chosen as it was the joint birthday of Scouting founder Robert Baden-Powell and of Olave Baden-Powell, his wife and World Chief Guide.

Lord Robert Baden-Powell was born on 22 February 1857.

Lady Olave Baden-Powell was also born on 22 February 1889.
